IMPROVING PLAYER Physical Performance
Athletic performance can be summarised as the ability to perform key physical traits, for a footballer these areas mainly focus:
-
Agility
-
Speed/Acceleration
-
Strength/Jumping
-
Conditioning
-
Movement Development
We have included a few examples below of what our Agility and Speed plans look like on our TRAINING APP
AGILITY
The training plans and the agility development videos on the training app, have been devised by strength and conditioning coaches, with years of experience in helping footballers improve their agility.
-
Agility can be termed as rapid changes of movement velocity, direction and mode, in response to a stimulus.
-
Change of direction, which is the physical aspect that underpins agility, involves the ability of the athlete to produce forces to decelerate (braking), before producing forces to re-accelerate, whilst controlling the body position during various multiplanar movements.
-
The ability to rapidly change speed, direction and mode of movement is considered advantageous in football as it permits players to both create and close space, in relation to the ball and opposition players.
AGILITY TRAINING PLANS
We now provide examples relating to speed
SPEED
The training plans and the speed development videos on the training app, have been devised by qualified strength and conditioning coaches, with years of experience in helping footballers improve their speed.
-
Acceleration and maximal speed are essential physical qualities to becoming a successful footballer.
-
Research has found that the majority of match deciding moments begin or end with a high. speed/explosive movement, for example: straight line sprinting is the most dominant action during goal scoring.
-
The importance of speed is evident and all players require the ability to escape their opponent to gain that extra yard.
